What is ValidMeet?
A meetup app that puts live club hangouts on the map in Austin, so you can hop in and actually meet. Student email keeps campus with other students.

Yes. The Austin beta is open now — join the list and we will email your invite. Starting in one city keeps enough people nearby for spontaneous meetups to actually work.
Is this only for clubs?
Clubs and the map come first. Friends and dating are there too if you want them.
Do I need a student email?
Campus hangouts and school clubs, yes — verified students only. Your email stays private. Friends and dating default to other students after you verify.
How does ValidMeet stop people from flaking?
You hold a small number of hearts, and flaking spends them. Skipping a match costs one heart; backing out after you commit costs two. Hearts refill slowly over time, so the people still holding hearts are the people who show up.
What is a meetup streak?
A streak between two people that only advances when you both bump phones after meeting in person. Meet once in a Monday–Sunday week, then again sometime the following week. Messaging never counts toward it, so a streak is proof of real meetups instead of chatting.
What happens once we actually meet?
The host picks a hangout card set so everyone at the pin follows the same meeting — agenda, a shared timer, pairs, and more cards depending on the hangout.
Does it cost anything during the beta?
No. The Austin beta is free. Join the list with your email and we will send your invite.
Does the other person see my live location on the way?
No. There is no live transit tracking between meetup partners. The person you matched with sees the public venue you are both heading to, and later whether you have arrived. They never see your live position, your route, or whether you are moving. Live location is only shared if you send a Share My Meetup link to a trusted contact. That share can keep updating while your phone is locked until you stop it, or for five minutes after the meetup ends if you do not.
How do I share my meetup with someone I trust?
Tap the shield in the app and send a Share My Meetup link. A trusted contact sees your live location and the venue. The person you matched with does not get that link unless you send it to them.
If I report someone, do they see where I am?
No. A report can store a one-time snapshot of your position and the meetup venue for ValidMeet to review. Other members never see it. It is not a live GPS trail.
What does a “validated” Beacon location mean?
Beacon spots are reviewed so group meetups land at appropriate public places rather than anywhere on the map. It is a planning and trust layer, not a guarantee of personal safety — always use your own judgment.
